I had a dinner date with a friend and she suggested Cazador Grill for some Peruvian food. It was both our first times here. It is located on 56th street (same plaza as Naga Tea). We arrived around 5:30pm. Since it was right after work, we were the only people in the restaurant. As others have noted, the place is kind of long and big so a little awkward but we sat in a booth in the front. The server was a young gentlemen who was very casual and friendly. You get 1 free large fountain drink with Yelp check-in! Since I don't drink soda, he gave me Chicha morada - Peruvian purple corn drink. It was very unique and sweet but I couldn't really drink much more than a couple of sips. Sidenote- their cups are huge! So it takes me a long time to decide on what to order at every place I go because to be honest I want to order everything! I decided on the Picanha (Brazilian) grilled top sirloin steak which comes with their house salad and one side. I choose their pastel de papa (potato cake with cream sauce). This was like a potato lasagna. I enjoyed this (I don't like potatoes in general so I was surprised I ordered this). One word to describe the steak ~ JUICY! It was cooked perfectly (I like my steak medium rare) and was flavorful, seasoned well. This wasn't just a regular steak! The dish came with two awesome sauces (I don't remember the names) but one looked like a chimichurri (so delicious) and the other was a creamy sauce. The server said I could ask for more sauce too! My friend ordered the Lomo Saltado ~ sauteed meat with onions, tomatoes, and peppers, fries and side of white rice. Usually the fries are mixed together with everything else but the server mentioned this and my friend asked for this on the side. Her dish smelled and looked delicious and saucy. I have a personal preference for saucy things with rice. She also got a side of fried yucca which she didn't finish. I took a bite of one and it was dry. I would pass on this next time. I really liked that the server was very informed about the menu and would give us suggestions (even though he was a vegetarian!). The atmosphere is casual and the service was good. Portions were large and the prices weren't unreasonable. The place is unique and there is just something that makes me want to come back again! Try something different! I'm glad we had Peruvian for a change!

I have revisited this restaurant 4 times. I have decided to give the update. This definitely the Peruvian restaurant that is expert with grilled meat. The dishes I like are the Falda, Picanha, Lomo de Cerdo. Several people of my friend have tried their ribs and they like it. If you come with a group of three, you can order the mix grill platter to share and you will have a chance for each type of meat. The Picanha is a bit salty but the marinated spice is well done into the meat. The best dish is still the Falda. They have the lunch special now use 10 to 12 dollars. I like the full portion better. The Chicha Morada is improving from my previous visit. The trick is telling them not to put too much ice in the cup before they pour it. The taste will be more Peruvian bean taste when they did that.

This place. Excellent. We started with Soltero de Queso (Cheese Salad). Enough for 2 or 3 people, but get it just for yourself and don't share. It's that good. Calamari was also ordered and served with a Peruvian dipping sauce - spicy but not too spicy and SO tasty. For our entrées, we had Falda (grilled skirt steak) cooked rare and it came with a side of Pastel de Papa (a potato cake with a cream sauce). It had just a hint of anise in it and it was SO delicious!!! My husband had Vacio (grilled flank steak) cooked rare and it came with a side of yucca. Another succulent, tasty, and tender steak. Incredible. When it was all said and done, unfortunately we were too full to order the coconut flan. Next time. Elizabeth, the wife of the chef and 1/2 of theowners, was so attentive and friendly and absolutely bent over backwards to make sure we were satisfied. Like others that have reviewed, we'll definitely be back - sooner rather than later. A Temple Terrace gem...FINALLY!!!

The staff is very friendly and the restaurant itself is welcoming. I tried their Vacio steak with fried plantains and it was great! I also had a free drink after checking in on Yelp. The owners are both Colombian and Peruvian and they know about food. I will definitely return to try the ceviche.

I was introduced to Cazador by a co-worker & have returned at least 5 times over the past 6 months! The Falda & Vacio are always cooked to perfection (tender, juicy & seasoned perfectly). I tried a sample of the Chicha Morado which was wonderful - I'm planning to order one of these Peruvian beverages (non-alcoholic) during my next visit! Service is good, but be patient, Cazador cooks everything to order & to perfection (well worth the wait).

Loved this place. The place was very clean comfortable and artful. Service was excellent fast and with answers and recommendations. The food was delicious too. We had the potato cake. A nice large portion very tasty with Peruvian sauce. Flank was seared perfect with salad and crispy fresh fries. My fish tasted very fresh and not overdone.

First time dining here. Lady owner of restaurant was very attentive and sweet. My entree was a Tallarin Saltado, accompanied with a tall glass of sangria and it was perfect. Generous portion.

I was excited to try the new Peruvian place in Tampa. The first impression was the previous restaurant's hot plate area where food is served cafeteria style was still there sitting empty. Is that a storage area, or will that be used in the future? I was confused. There were different types of Peruvian decorations in the restaurant as well. That was nice touch. My group of three tried the following items on the menu. This will be in order of best to worse. 1. Ceviche - For the price, and being that it is a simple white fish in lime with onions, it's the best taste, but not worth the price for the size in my opinion. I also think it was quite basic. It was served with four to six finger sized fried yuccas. 2. Yuca fries - these were pretty good, smaller than other places though. It can accompany your entree as one of the included sides, or you can purchase it on the side. 3. Lomo Saltado - meat with peppers and onions - tasty. According to friend, it would be better if a little bit more vinegar was added to elevate the taste. 4. Chicha Morada - Peruvian drink made with Peruvian purple corn, cinnamon, and pineapple - this drink is not consistently made. Sometimes sweet, sometimes not enough. 5. Ribs marinaded with orange- hard to eat get off the bone. Pull hard with your teeth. Too much effort, plus barely any sauce. Make sure you get more on the side. 6. Skirt steak - chewy, not seasoned as well. 7. Potato Au Gratin Casserole - very bland - didn't taste like anything. Square casserole sized slice. If salad is included in meal, why do we have to ask for it, and they still forget to bring all of them when it is all included? Your second side as well. It is included, but it's not?? We didn't have silverware. Oops. It will come in time. They are new. Flavor of food, it will come in time. They are new, right. Flavor was lacking any pizzazz whatsoever. For price & quality, I was greatly disappointed. I think that since they are trying to take account the non - Peruvian taste buds, the taste of the food is being compromised. At this time, there is no sangria served, but they are working on it. Besides Chicha Morada, there is a wine and beer menu as well as soft drinks. The owners are husband and wife. The husband is Peruvian and the chef. The wife is Colombian. She did her best to greet everyone. Her husband, the cook, on a non busy night, never came out. Her son, who's quite young is still learning to serve. One must start somewhere. In my opinion, hopefully they can have a more experienced server who will help as well.

I finally took the time to write and thank all our customers who had written reviews about Cazador Grill peruvian food and service. Cazador Grill has been opened for eight months and a half. My husban Richard, the chef, created the menu and he fixes Peruvian food adding his own touch. He works in the kitchen and in front of the grill with all his heart, knowledge and passion. Everyday I feel so proud of him when Customers send complemets to the chef. It is a joy to see how eaters enjoy our food. Being the hostess and server of Cazador Grill has let me know so many nice people. Thank you so much for visiting us.Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. Great food, and great friendly...very friendly...service! I started out with the Anticuchos de Carne. Thin, tender, marinated steak on a kebob with a great Peruvian salsa. Perfect started. The main course was ceviche. The fish was firm, and it had sat in the lime just the right length of time. A nice bite, but not overwhelming. I finished up with Peruvian flan. Service was super attentive! The owner, Elizabeth (a delightful woman!), made sure everything was perfect. This is a place to bring your family! It's not fancy...and that's ok...it's all about the food. And... the dinner won't break the bank. Highly recommended! The next time I'm down here on business I'll be sure to drop in again.

Super friendly place. Love the owners and the food is pretty damn good. Had the typical steak with vegetables and rice last time. Had the seafood tomato soup this time. The soup was very flavorful and not too heavy, really surprised me at well it was seasoned and the tilapia in the stew was cooked perfectly, and still super tender.

For the price Cazador is a steakhouse hard to beat with a great Peruvian flair that is very rare here in Tampa. We had a very large group of six for Valentines and this was a wonderful hole in the wall to find reservations at when my city is realy packed. The opening salad came dressed with a delucious in house balsamic and we couldnt help but devour the crisp greens. Not knowing what was good we chose to go with the meat combo for 3 and we were very happy. Personally I adored the flank steak best of all - tender and rare it was melt in your mouth perfect. The orange juice marinated ribs, the boneless pork, and the grilled chicken were all well received also. Of their sauces I can certainly recommend the orange colored Cazador pepper sauce as the most unique. Topping it all off was a delucious coconut flan with chocolate sauce which was quite raved about. I will return - focussing on the flank steak next time!

Absolutely my best on Yelp yet. It's so incredible we can't find the right words to say how good. We had the Cazador-variety of meats. Perfection. A party in your mouth. The owners are spectacular. Just amazing. An absolute must in Tampa.

I went to Cazador Grill on a Saturday afternoon with my mother who was in town for the day. As you walk through the doors it is clear that the restaurant's decor is in desperate need of life and culture. The tables are quite unfortunate looking and the booths are very uncomfortable. The food is well presented, but the overall flavors in the "typical" food I tried were for the most part a bit bland. I have been to Peru many times and have eaten ceviche at street markets and ceviche in restaurants (ceviche everywhere and anywhere) and the flavor in the ceviche offered by Cazador Grill is lacking. The dish has zero kick to it - it's supposed to have chilies- and there was not the typical offering of choclo and sweet potato- typical as in if you go to Peru and order ceviche there is a 99.9% chance there will be choclo and sweet potato on the side. The jalea real - a.k.a. a plethora of fried seafood - was very good. I really liked the seasoning. There's not really much that I can say about it - it's fried food, seasoned and cooked well, and it is also a gargantuan dish (share it). The anticucho appetizer had authentic seasoning to the dish, but unfortunately it was not the authentic meat typically served in South America. I understand the choice because not a lot of people are willing to eat something labeled as "beef heart." However, that is what authentic anticucho is made of and let me tell you it is deeeeeelicious. Do not fear the beef heart, welcome it. Service could use some improvement, but I didn't expect much since they were young and appeared to be the offspring of the owner's wife (who was out and about chatting the few customers up). My main thing when going to a restaurant is that I should never have to ask for a refill, it should happen when my glass is empty or near emptiness. I had to ask and that was unfortunate. Based on my personal experience, I would give El Cazador a 3/5. I will eventually go back and try their steak dishes as I have seen people raving about them. Hopefully they have a more "wow" factor than the dishes I experienced. We shall see.

I would give 5 stars but the ambience is a bit... awkward. As others have mentioned, the hostess is very friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. I had the grilled chicken, which was very juicy and flavorful. It was accompanied by some sort of cheesy potato dish and a salad, both of which were tasty. The portions were reasonable and seemed good for health-conscious people. Like I said the only negative is the space itself. It feels a bit cavernous and I would like a more intimate feel here. Also some of the decor is a bit weird: the "don't feed the zombies" sign near the bathroom made me think I was at the game store next door. Back to the good: coconut flan is delicious for desert and even if they don't have the requisite cups for espresso I have faith in their latte. Much like Legacies this is a great little local restaurant that I hope does well. Also like legacies, they're up against some corporate monsters and may be struggling to find the right image. I wish them well!

A brand-new, hidden gem! Some of the best Peruvian food in town, and arguably the most affordable steakhouse too. The decor is bare-bones, in a crowded strip mall. But what it lacks in ambiance it makes up for in incredible food. The ceviche was creamy, tangy and delicious, and as good or better than any of our favorite ceviches at the Zagat rated Selva Grill in Sarasota. It was huge too: easily twice the size of other Peruvian restaurants in Tampa, but at half the price. I had the flank steak, which was tasty and again a great value. My wife ordered the Lomo Saltado. The savory taste combined with the sweet plantains was perfection for her. We topped it off with two glasses of wine and rice pudding for dessert. It was delicious and there was lots of leftovers to take home too. The restaurant is just 2 1/2 months old and run by husband-and-wife team. Thr wife (who is from Columbia) waited on all the tables and was smiling and very friendly. The husband is from Peru, and worked his magic in the kitchen. A great creative duo!

Subpar food. A little overpriced. Ok restaurant presentation. Nice owners & staff. With a large selection of Peruvian restaurants in the area, I probably won't return. Great Inca Kola!

My fiancé and I loved it here! Great food, great price and friendly atmosphere. Definitely check it out if you are in the area! We got fried yucca as an appetizer and the sauce it came with was very yummy! I had the tallarin Chaufa with chicken (noodle dish) and my fiancé had the sudado de pescado. It was so good we ate everything up!

I am here with my brother and his girlfriend. They are from out of town and we came across this place driving around looking for a place to eat near MOSI. I got the ribs and plantain which were great!!! They were fatty but made for a fantastic flavor. The plantains were perfect and the salad and house dressing was on point. My brother got the pork which he says was great. The highlight of the table was when his girlfriends food came out. It came almost straight from the grill to the table. She ordered the fried fish platter. The order was soooo large that it could have fed 4 people!!! They couldn't finish it! All of the food was hot and fresh including the Peruvian purple corn drink made fresh today. This is delicious!!! It's a brewed drink made of purple corn, cloves, cinnamon, lime juice, sugar and I'm sure other wonderful ingredients. What really made this first time here special was the hostess. She was so attentive, nice and very informative about all of the different things the menu had to offer. This was a great visit with great food!!

My son and I just ate here. It was delicious! Everything was fresh. My son had the Vacío - flank steak with French fries and side salad. Steak was tender juicy and tasty. It came with two side sauces - reddish sauce that was spicey and yummy and a chimichurri sauce also tasty. I had Tallarin Chaufa with chicken. It has a Chinese stir fry flavor to it with noodles. I devoured it! We also had the Anticucho appetizer. Again delicious. Last we tried the Lukuma ice cream - waffly, maple light fruity flavor. All yummy. Pricewise, I think it is modestly priced for the good quality food you are getting. Owners are very welcoming. Go eat here! I spent a summer in Peru 30 years ago and this meal brought back fond flavor memories.

As a Peruvian who has tried so many other Peruvian restaurants in the area, it was refreshing to see a menu that capitalized on our grilled cuisine. It did not disappoint whatsoever! It's definitely a great dinner spot with its filling entree portions. I split a ceviche with my friend and then I ordered the Vacio (flank steak) at medium rare. The juiciest and most delicious steak I think I have had in a while. Had the potatoe cake as my optional side order, glad I tried it! The folks that work there are very enthusiastic to share the cuisine and were great with customer service. Thankfully it is close to the USF area instead of anywhere west of Armenia. Will definitely be bringing my family around next time I go!

I live down the street from this place and I was not even sure what to expect. I was in the mood for something different and didn't feel like driving far. Reading the other reviews, I decided to give it a try. Boy, am I glad I did. The family that owns the place really go above and beyond with fantastic customer service and very fresh tasting food. Nothing is out of a can and they really put their heart and soul into it. I am so glad to see a great family run restaurant in Temple Terrace. Also, I highly recommend the coconut flan for dessert!

Loved it! Delicious, authentic food and great service! Had the falda or skirt steak (churrasco), perfectly prepared as were the plantains (maduros). Glass of wine was reasonably priced and a generous pour. I'll be back.

Very happy to have made it out here. First taste of Peruvian food and was very pleasantly satisfied. Elizabeth was amazing, super friendly and helpful throughout the meal. The 3 person Cazador sampler was the perfect intro to try the fair. The house balsamic on the salad was fabulous. The purple corn drink, perfect with just a bit more lemon. I can't wait to go back and try the paninis and the noodle dishes.

The food is amazing! The cool thing is that this place is close to USF and Temple Terrace. We made an appetizer out of the shrimp fried rice and it was delicious ! Next came the main dishes of vacio (flank steak) and picanha. Both were excellent - tender and juicy. The side sauces made them sublime. Coconut flan and chocolate cake for dessert were also great. Elizabeth the owner/greeter is a joy. Her husband Richard the chef has a gift with food and seasonings. This place is not fancy, but is very welcoming and the food is amazing.

Found this place via Yelp, inexperienced with Peruvian but am a food/restaurant explorer. The reviews told it like it is, a fantastic restaurant with great food and great service. The couple that own the place are the server and chef. Started off with the ceviche as an "app"; was filled to the brim with fresh fish - a definite thumbs up. If you enjoy full flavor drinks, try the chicha morada...refreshing flavor with a good hint of cinnamon. Great hidden gem up here, give it a try.

The Service is exceptional. You are made to feel at home right away and no detail is missed. Food is great too. I had Pechuga de Pollo and my husband the pork chop. Our son had a Peruvian fusion dish that reminded us of pepper steak; he devoured it. Thanks Yelp for helping us find this family owned hidden gem near Busch Gardens.

Meh. The steak kebab app was the best thing. The other dishes, chicken noodles, chicken fried rice, and a grilled chicken entree all were more like Chinese than any Peruvian. Ordered the ceviche as well and I can immediately think of 5 places off the top of my head that have better ceviches. The Peruvian place in N Tampa is significantly better and roughly the same price. In the future is just make the further trek and get the real deal instead. I was pretty disappointed in the place after how my mother in law talked it up.

I had the skirt steak. It was the worst steak I've ever had. It was like chewing rubber bands that were greasy.

I do Tai Chi across the street from the Cazador Grill, and those of us who had frequented the previous restaurant, mostly at lunchtime, were anxiously awaiting the opening of the new restaurant. We are VERY pleased with what we have experienced so far. Elizabeth, the wife of the chef Richard, is very hospitable and welcoming. The food is excellent. and the atmosphere so pleasant. My husband and I decided to go there for Valentine's Day! I am not a meat eater but have found several dishes that satisfy me. So far I have tried the Soltero de Queso -- a very filling and tasty salad with a special vinaigrette. The calamares are also very good. Once the lunch special was a seafood soup which was delicious. I plan to order one of the fish dishes when we go there for Valentine's Day. My husband so far has raved about the pork panini, the grilled pork chop tenderloin, and the Lomo Saltado, chunks of beef sauteed just right with onions, tomatoes and peppers. This restaurant has not been open very long, and the young couple who are its owners are eager to introduce the Peruvian cuisine to the area. Temple Terrace is lucky to have them! If you haven't been here yet, give it a try. You won't regret it! If you already have been here and were as pleased as we were with the quality of the food, please join us in spreading the word about the Cazador Grill to your friends. Maria

This is a new place, the food is to die for, and the staff are the owners and very friendly. They really have good flavors and good meats in this place, but there is no people there at dinner time - likely because they just opened. I will come back again. new local (secret) hot spot. They have really good food. I had steak that was so perfect tasting.
